A very rare antique corset busk shop display drawer unit dating to the 1880's in superb original condition.

The drawers have  gold leaf sign writing to each side advertising  William Pretty & Son's

rust proof corset busks.

Pretty's was by the 1880's one of the largest manufacturers of corsets in the UK & up until WW1 exported large quantities to the States.

The onset of WW1 saw a change in fashions with the War Industries Board asking women to stop buying corsets to free up the metal for the war effort & the corset industry waned significantly .

It is amazing that this  classic  piece has survived so well intact as shop fittings were often not valued once the items became redundant , a great collectors piece .
